BCC Stage Light
Category: BCC Lights
Effect Name: BCC Stage Light
The BCC Stage Light filter, part of the BCC Lights category, generates realistic volumetric lighting effects, simulating stage lighting with visible light beams, atmospheric depth, and optional smoke for enhanced realism.
Working with the Filter
Presets and Common Controls
- BCC filters come with a library of factory installed presets plus the ability to create your own custom presets and preview them with the BCC FX Browserโข.
- BCC filters also include common controls that configure global effect preferences and other host-specific effect settings.

Beat Reactor
The Beat Reactor is an audio-driven animation system that links effect parameters to an audio track. This allows visual effects to react dynamically to sound without manual key-framing.
For more information, see Beat Reactor Documentation.
- Composite on Source: Enabled by default, composites the effect on the source image.
- Use Comp Camera: Uses the AE or compatable host camera instead of the filter's built in camera.
- Use Comp Light: Uses the AE or compatable host lights instead of the filter's built in lights.
Built-in Camera Group
- Camera Model: Set the camera orientation to position, orbit, or pan.
- Zoom: Determines the viewing perspective.
- Position X/Y/Z: Sets the camera position in 3D space.
- Orientation: Determines the focus point of the camera.
- Free: Camera orientation is set via tumble, spin, or rotate.
- Target: Camera is fixed towards a specific target position.
- Tumble: Tumbles the camera along the z axis.
- Spin: Spins the camera along the y axis.
- Rotate: Rotates the camera along the x axis.
- Target X/Y: Sets the camera target along the x/y axis.
- Target Z: Sets the camera target along the zy axis.
- Orbit Radius: Sets the distance from the object that the camera orbits.
- Orbit Tumble: Tumbles the orbit along the z axis.
- Orbit Spin: Spins the orbit along the y axis.
- Orbit Rotate: Rotates the orbit along the y axis.
- Pan Distance: Sets the pan camera's distance from the object.
- Pan Advance: Sets the offset in the position of the pan camera.
Smoke Group
The smoke group adds atmospheric smoke to enhance volumetric lighting visibility.
- Smoke On: Enables/disables the smoke effect.
- Seed: Adds variability to the smoke pattern.
- Density: Sets the amount of smoke in the effect.
- Speed: Determines the animation speed of the smoke effect.
Comp Lights Group
The Comp Lights Group is only available when the Use Comp Light parameter is enabled. When enabled, the built in lights group is disabled, and the parameters in this group control the host light source.
- Global: Determines the behavior of composition light sources.
- Select Lights: Choose which lights are used.
- Name Filter: Filter lights by naming conventions.
- Render Mode: Determines the light falloff style.
- Point Light: Contains parameters for controling composition point lights. The parameters here are identical to those used in the built in point light group.
- Spot Light: Contains parameters for controling composition point lights. The parameters here are identical to those used in the built in point light group.
Built-in Lights
BCC Stage Light contains three built-in light sources. Each source can be configured independently, and utilize identical parameters.
- Master Intensity: Sets the intensity of all enabled lights.
- Light Source 1-3: Enable/disable each of the three built-in light source groups.
- Render Mode: Determines the light falloff style.
- Color: Sets the color of the light source.
- Intensity: Sets the intensity of the individual light source.
- Position X/Y: Sets the position of the light source along the x/y axis.
- Position Z: Sets the position of the light source along the z axis.
- Type: Select from either Point or Spot light.
Point Light Group
A point light is an omnidirectional light source that emits illumination equally in all directions from a single, infinitely small point, similar to a light bulb, candle, or firefly.
- Point Light Style: Determines the style of the point light.
- Off: No style is selected.
- Natural: Adds natural fallof to the edges of the light.
- Constant Radius: No natural falloff is present and the light radius remains constant.
- Feather: Sets the softness of the light edges.
- Radius: Determines the size of the light when the style is set to Constant Radius.
Spot Light Group
A spotlight casts a focused, directional cone of light similar to a theater spotlight or flashlight.
- Interest X/Y: Sets the direction of the spot light along the x/y axis.
- Interest Z: Sets the direction of the spot light along the z axis.
- Cone Angle: Sets angular width of the cone of light.
- Cone Feather: Sets softness of the light falloff.
- Light Model: Selects the style of light emitted from the spotlight.
- Off: No light is emitted from the spotlight.
- Natural Light: The emitted light fades naturally the further it is from the light source..
- Distance Falloff: Falloff is increases the further from the light source it is.
- Constant: The light remains constant no matter the distance from the source.
- Offset Source: Offsets the light from the source point.
- Target: Sets the length of the light emitted.
- Use Target Layer: Enables/disables the selection of a target layer.
- Target Map Layer: Selects the image source to use as the target layer.
- Double Sided Lighting: Controls interaction with surfaces.
