BCC RGB Displacement Dissolve
Category: BCC Transitions
Effect Name: BCC RGB Displacement Dissolve
The BCC RGB Displacement Dissolve filter, part of the BCC Transitions group, transitions between two layers by animating displacement in the RGB channels which progressively reveals the underlying layer.
Working with the Filter
Presets and Common Controls
- BCC filters come with a library of factory installed presets plus the ability to create your own custom presets and preview them with the BCC FX Browser™.
- BCC filters also include common controls that configure global effect preferences and other host-specific effect settings.

- Layer to Reveal: This layer selection popup is not relevant when you have applied the filter as a true NLE-style transition and it will be hidden or disabled in that context. When applied as a normal “effect” as opposed to a transition, however, this menu is used to select the Incoming or Reveal layer for the transition.
- Animation: Menu controlling what drives the animation of the transition.
- Auto: Automatically generates a transition based on the transition length (when used as a transition) or the clip length (when used as a filter.)
- Percent Done: Requires the user to set keyframes to control the transition progression.
- Percent Done: When the Animation menu is changed to Percent Done then this slider can be manually keyframed to control the transition progression.
RGB Misalignment Group
- Render Misalignment: Enables the RGB misalignment feature.
- Misalignment Animation: Sets the style with which the misalignment animates into view.
- Misalignment Opacity: Sets the opacity of the missalignment without animating the offset motion.
- Red/Green/Blue Offset: Moves the Red, Green and Blue channels out from the original image.
- Both: fades the Red, Green and Blue Channels into view while animating their offset motion.
- Misalignment Opacity: manually adjusts the opacity value of the misaligned channels.
- Red Offset / Green Offset / Blue Offset: position controls offset the corresponding color channel on the X and Y axis.
- Red Intensity / Green Intensity / Blue Intensity: determine the intensity of the corresponding color channel.
- Reflect Edges: will fill in the edges of the frame with repeating pixels.
- Apply Mode: controls how the filtered image is composited with the source image.
- Apply Mix: controls the mix of the specified Apply Mode.
Displacement Map Group
- Pre Blur: Softens the edges of the Map Layer.
- Blur Threshold: Softens the Map Layer before computing the displacements.
- Map Black Level: Sets the channel values of the map that are output as pure black.
- Map White Level: Sets the channel values of the input image that are treated as pure white.
- Map Gamma: Determines the midlevel gray values of the input image.
Displacement Group
- Render Displacement: Enables the displacement feature.
- Master Displacement: Sets the overall intensity of the displacement.
- Horiz. Channel: Sets the channel used to compute horizontal displacement.
- Max. Horiz. Displacement: Sets the amount of horizontal displacement.
- Horiz Reference Level: Sets the channel value where no displacement occurs.
- Vert. Channel: Sets the channel used to compute vertical displacement.
- Max Vert. Displacement: Sets the vertical displacement.
- Vert Reference Level: Sets the channel value where no displacement occurs.
Region Animation Group
- Region Animation: Fine tunes the style and direction of the transition effect.
- Animation Type: Sets the direction of the transition animation.
- Region Type: Determines the shape of the transition effect.
- Direction: Sets the angle of the transition.
- Softness: Sets the edge feathering of the transition region.
- Center Point: Sets the XY position of the transition’s animation.
- Brightness Peak: Sets the maximum brightness value for the transition.
- Contrast Peak: Sets the maximum contrast value for the transition.
The Animation Tuning Group
- Ease In: Controls how quickly or slowly the effect amount increases at the beginning of the transition.
- Ease Mid: Controls the rate of change of the effect amount during the middle of the transition.
- Ease Out: Controls how quickly or slowly the effect amount decreases at the end of the transition.
- Dissolve Duration: Controls the timing of the underlying dissolve relative to the timing of the rest of the transition.
- View Ease Curve: (Only visible/enabled in hosts that don’t support heads up display widgets for manipulating these controls directly on screen.) Enable this control to display a preview graph of the the animation curves rendered into in the composite window.
