We’re still basking in the afterglow of this year’s IFF Boston , where we were overly excited hometown sponsors! The weeklong festival celebrated the best and brightest in independent film.
James Macon, our Technical Support Manager and a second year IFF Boston volunteer, talks about his involvement with the festival and what it was like being a first-time volunteer captain.
“One shift involved wrangling lines of 400+ people into the cramped Somerville Theatre (pictured right), coordinating the 20 volunteers on staff that day, and tearing a metric ton of tickets; it was a blast. After another one of my shifts I had bruised a bone in my heel from working the entire day on my feet, but it was beyond worth it. I got involved because I love movies and stayed involved because the people running the festival are some of the finest in town.”
Not only did we sponsor (and James bruise a bone), we also headed to the movies.
Here are a few of the films we saw:
Boyhood: A coming of age story shot over 12 years with only 39 total shoot days! Directed by Richard Linklater.
Beneath the Harvest Sky : Directed by Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly
And a special congratulations to Fight Church - Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary and a new owner of BCC 9 AE !
Brian Tamm, Executive Director (pictured far right with Fight Church director Bryan Storkel and James, left), sums up what it meant to IFF Boston to have a visual effects software sponsorship and prize added to the mix. “As a 100% volunteer-run non-profit arts organization, we rely on our sponsors to make the festival happen,” says Brian. “We love collaborating with new sponsors, especially those who provide products or services that are directly relevant to our filmmakers. We are proud to be able to offer useful and meaningful prizes to our jury winners — we look forward to seeing what they create.”
Bravo and cheers to an awesome 2014 IFF Boston. We can’t wait to sponsor again next year!
