Silverglad

Started in 1983 with a couple of offline VHS machines in the back of a Citroen 2CV, Silverglade has come a long way to be the modern post-production facility it is today.

With a full HD-only workflow – offline and online - Silverglade utilises Avid Everywhere, a Baselight grading suite with Dolby screen, and Boris Continuum Complete (BCC) for the cream on top. There are two dubbing theatres with ProTools and voice-over booth for audio.

The key to Silverglade’s success according to Managing Director Jason Tomkins is “staying at the forefront of quality technology, and utilising it to speed up the post-production process to ensure projects are on budget and on time.”

Though the technology is bang up-to-date, the company is housed in a converted Victorian warehouse on London’s very fashionable South Bank. Just along the street are the ITV studios from which Silverglade gets a lot of documentary, factual & entertainment work, and right opposite is the OXO building seen in many mainstream movies like 'Love Actually.'

At the heart of the studios, however, is the lovely ambience of the café. Softly-lit but buzzy at the same time; this is where you see producers, clients, and techies swapping notes or anecdotes while tea is made.

Another very important part of the workflow at Silverglade is the pre-production phase, where the company’s producers advise the client on how to most efficiently produce the project, whilst keeping in mind the post-production capabilities.

With BAFTA-nominated, Broadcast Award winning programmes, and an ITV 'Insider of the Year', Silverglade's credits include '28 Up South Africa', 'The Sheriffs are Coming,' and 'Ben Fogle - New Lives in the Wild' - all top-rated shows for the UK.

Asked why he has Boris FX on every Avid in the house, Jason comments simply, "Because it's the FX package editors ask for and constantly use. BCC has an unparalleled breadth of tools for every creative and 'heavy-lifting' situation."

Thanks to Jason Tomkins and Sarah Kinsella at Silverglade .
